MS Track Caps Off Spring Season at PBL Championships


CULVER CITY— Geffen Academy’s middle school track and field athletes wrapped up their spring competition on Friday afternoon at the Pacific Basin League Championships at West Los Angeles College.

Multiple Bruins had top finishes at the event, with eighth grader Kainoa D. providing two highlights as he finished first in both the boys 1600 (4:53.86) and 800m (2:20.02) races. Fellow eighth grade Abena N. also had an impressive day, claiming second place in girls shot put (30’04”), while sixth grader Erin M. was runner-up in the girls 60m dash (8.89). Eighth grader Kai H. also dazzled spectators as the meet concluded, earning third place in the high jump with a 4’9″ effort.

Geffen Academy’s boys relay teams also each made the podium: Asher B., Nyjah C., Kai H., and Dash K. banded together to place third in the 4 x 100m relay (52.64), while Sawyer S., Andrew F., Sacha F., and Michael D. claimed third in the sixth grade 4 x 100m event (1:01.19). Kainoa D., Preston D., Kai H., and Luca N. also finished third in the 4 x 400m relay (4:25.61).
