CULVER CITY- Geffen Academy’s middle school track and field team competed in its first meet of the season Friday at West Los Angeles College.

Testing their talents against Pacific Basin League (PBL) schools, the Bruins had a number of podium finishes.

Kainoa D., an 8th grader, won a photo finish boys 1600m race (5:01.54) and was runner-up in the 800m, while Erin E. was second in the girls 6th grade 60m event (9.15). The Geffen Academy boys’ 4 x 100m (53.42) and 4 x 400m (4:26.98) relays also placed second with a time of 53.42, helping the boys to a second place finish overall at the meet.

In field events, 8th grader Kai H. also earned third in the boys’ high jump (4′ 10″).

The Bruins return to action on Friday, March 20 for a PBL rematch at West Los Angeles College.
