Middle School Swim Races Beverly Vista and Turning Point

BEVERLY HILLS— Geffen Academy at UCLA’s middle school swimming team began the fall season on Wednesday with a tri-meet in Beverly Hills.

Facing host school Beverly Vista along with Pacific Basin League rival Turning Point, the Bruins raced for the first time at Beverly Hills High School’s historic Swim Gym, a famous venue built in 1939 that has served as the home for basketball and swimming / water polo events for nearly a century.

For multiple Geffen Academy athletes, the meet was the first of their career. For other Bruins, the meet featured new time drops.

“I was extremely proud of how we performed,” Aquatics Director Melissa Ribeiro said. “Our swimmers were cheering each other on, we had so many great swims, and it was a fantastic way to start the fall season.”

The Bruins return to the pool next Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they hit the road to take on St. Matthew’s in another league contest. That meet begins at 3:30 p.m.
