Geffen Academy CIF State Scholar Athletes Announced
SACRAMENTO— Geffen Academy seniors Ananya G. and Ethan A. are recognized as our top student-athletes, earning nominations for “CIF State Student-Athlete of the Year, 2026.”
The program honors student-athletes across the state who have demonstrated excellence in both academics and athletics. Each CIF member school can nominate a scholar-athlete with a minimum 3.7 GPA over three years while lettering in a varsity sport and participating in extracurricular activities.
The prestigious honor highlights student-athletes who exemplify the highest standards of achievement across multiple areas, recognizing not only performance in competition but also commitment in the classroom and impact within their school communities.
Ananya, a dual-sport standout in girls’ soccer and swim & dive, has distinguished herself through both her academic dedication and her relentless work ethic in the pool.
“Ananya goes above and beyond, pushing herself from 2100 yards to 3100 yards without hesitation,” said Swimming & Diving Program Director Melissa Ribeiro. “That level of discipline and drive cannot be taught. She is consistent, relentless, and exceptional.”
Ethan, a key contributor to the boys’ soccer program, earned praise for both his on-field performance and his leadership presence within the team.
“Ethan was an invaluable asset to the team, not only due to his exceptional performance but also his positive and supportive personality,” said Boys Soccer Program Director Arron Craggs. “He consistently rises to every challenge with a strong mindset and is always willing to support and mentor his teammates.”
Both honorees represent the well-rounded excellence that defines the scholar-athlete model, balancing rigorous academics with high-level athletic competition while contributing positively to their teams and school community.
As our CIF State Scholar-Athletes of the Year, Ananya and Ethan join a select group of students recognized across California for their outstanding achievements, further highlighting Geffen Academy’s continued commitment to developing leaders both in and out of competition.
