Bruin Diving Duo Podium at CIF State Meet
CLOVIS— Geffen Academy at UCLA’s diving program delivered another standout performance Thursday at the CIF State Swimming and Diving Championships at the Clovis Olympic Swim Complex at Clovis West High School, with senior Kielan L. and sophomore Christina X. both earning podium finishes against California’s top competition.
Kielan capped off his remarkable high school career by placing third overall in the boys diving field, compiling 452.85 points across the 11-dive finals. The Georgetown University-bound standout showed significant growth from last season’s State meet, where he finished 12th with 442.00 points.
The podium finish continued a dominant postseason for Kielan, who captured his second-consecutive CIF Southern Section title two weeks earlier at the Marguerite Aquatic Center in Mission Viejo. In that competition, he delivered a school-record performance of 541.95 points to secure the championship.
On the girls side, Christina also represented Geffen Academy in impressive fashion, placing sixth overall with 451.70 points. The sophomore matched her finish from last year’s CIF State Championships, while improving on her 2025 score of 449.60 points.
Christina entered the State meet with momentum after winning the CIF Southern Section Division 4 championship in Mission Viejo, where she posted a spectacular 495.10 points to claim the section crown.
Swimming and Diving Program Director Melissa Ribeiro praised both athletes for their consistency and composure throughout the postseason:
“Kielan and Christina have both worked incredibly hard to reach this level, and what stands out most is the poise and consistency they show every time they compete,” Ribeiro said. “Kielan has been an outstanding leader for our program, and I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes at the next level at Georgetown.
“And Christina continues to impress us with her versatility and athleticism. Not only is she one of the top divers in the state, but she also contributed as a swimmer this spring and set our school record in the 100 breaststroke. The sky is truly the limit for her.”
“We are incredibly proud of Kielan and Christina for representing Geffen Academy with such excellence at the CIF State level,” said David Collicutt, Athletic Director at Geffen Academy at UCLA. “To see both student-athletes reach the podium at the CIF State Meet is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of their dedication, resilience, and competitive spirit. They have set a tremendous example for our entire athletic community, and we could not be more excited for them and their families.”
The pair’s performances capped another memorable season for the Geffen Academy at UCLA swimming and diving program, highlighted by Southern Section titles and State meet success.
