Keira W. Tallies Hat Trick in Win Over New Roads
SANTA MONICA- Freshman Keira W. ’29 spearheaded the Geffen Academy offense on Thursday with a hat trick as the varsity girls soccer team defeated New Roads, 4-0, on the road at Airport Park.
The victory avenged a single-goal loss the Bruins had suffered to New Roads back in early December when the two schools met in their first Coastal League contest. The three-goal effort was Keira W’s first career multi-score match. Her fellow freshman, Anju S. ’29 netted the Bruins’ additional goal in the victory.
“It was a fantastic win,” head coach Gary Truman said. “I was so happy for Keira and the team,” he added, recognizing the determination Geffen Academy showed on the defensive side to mute the Jaguars.
The Bruins return to the pitch next Wednesday for a 3:15pm road match against conference foe Vistamar at Manhattan Beach’s Marine Avenue Park.
